Greetings, Readers!
Today is truly a special day.
Today is a post where I look back at a full FIVE YEARS of blogging.
Five years ago yesterday, I wrote my first sandwich review, a look at one of my favorite cheese steaks in Los Angeles. Little did I know back then that I would be continuing on for five years with over 250 posts and no signs of stopping my journey.
Sadly, South Street Steaks is no longer around, but I’m still here and with many thanks to all of your for reading and giving feedback and support.
Really though, back up, how crazy is it that I’ve been writing this blog so long that some of the places I’ve reviewed have closed, and some have both opened AND closed in that time period?
What started simply as an exercise in writing and exploring my adopted home city has become a quest to find not only the best sandwiches in Los Angeles, but in the world.
I’ve also discovered Cubanos and Banh Mi sandwiches.
But that’s enough of the awesome, delicious, super amazing past. Now it’s time to focus on my sandwich-infused future.
To celebrate the FIVE YEARS (caps should always be used for that milestone), I am hosting a sandwich competition this weekend which will be up IN VIDEO in two weeks. I’m pretty excited with the entries I’ve heard of so far, and it’ll be amazing to have another of these events four years (see? no caps) since the last one.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the videos we’ve done so far, and while they’ve been awesome to make we’re planning on going even more all out. I think it’s about time we up THE DANGER on the blog.
I don’t mean it in a “Let me eat a ghost pepper sandwich until my mouth bleeds” sort of Danger.
Or do I?
The blog is about finding the best sandwiches out there and the craziest sandwiches out there. I’m sad that I missed out on the Ghost Pepper Cheesesteak in Philly, even though I’m sure I’d be out of commission for about three weeks afterwards. So to make it up, I think I have a sandwich in mind for the coming weeks. The only way to find out what it is though, is to keep reading.
So again Readers, thank you for being you, and for coming along for the ride. This journey has been a blast, and is even better with people enjoying it with me.
Until next week…
PS – Joining the 21st century in honor of FIVE YEARS, I’ve joined instagram for on-the-go sharing of sandwich photos. Click here to follow me!
I think your stomach is thankful you missed the ghost pepper cheesetseak.
Keep the sammy’s coming 🙂
