Friday Brewday: Smog City Brewing
Greetings, Readers!
If you’re seeing photos of beer, it must be another FRIDAY BREWDAY.
Also, if you’re stressed out enough from work then that could also be another sign of it being FRIDAY BREWDAY.
For this week’s craft brewery, I want to highlight a local favorite, Smog City Brewing.
I’ve had quite a few of Smog City’s beer before at different bars around Los Angeles. Their Little Bo Pils is a delicious take on a classic style, while their Smog City Porter is a amazing coffee porter which has been aged on locally roasted, fair trade ground coffee.
The Porter is one of my favorites in the city, and definitely worth seeking out.
One thing I never expected though, upon visiting the brewery itself, was how many sour beers they created. I mean, I had an entire flight of Belgian-inspired and sour beers.
LA Saison, Weird Beer and This Sour Future are all excellent beers, each with increasing funk, but my absolute favorite was Spittin’ And Cussin’. This is mouth puckering at its finest and at a 7.5% ABV, this wild ale is no slouch there either. If you want a refreshing drink with a kick of tart cherries, this is the one for you and I have to say it’s probably my new favorite.
But the Porter will always be top 2.
Smog City is a great example of brewing in LA and is worth your time heading down to Torrance to try some of their delicious beers straight from the tap.
If you need to find me, I’ll be mouth deep in sours.
