It’s Peanut Butter (Sandwich) Time
Greetings, Readers!
On my now new quest to find more delicious eateries close by my workplace in Studio City, I happened to find a place that piqued the interest of both my childhood and adult self.
Even though my tastes have evolved over time, and have become more advanced than that of my six year old self, there’s still something special about a simple sandwich containing only bread and peanut butter.
A Childhood Favorite
Let’s face facts though, when I first moved to Los Angeles, that’s pretty much all I ate anyway. A loaf of bread and a jar of PB can last a fairly long time and for not much money.
Okay, so maybe I skimped a little on food in my first year or so out here. Don’t judge.
With this in mind, how could I resist a place called Spread PB, a restaurant that serves high quality peanut butter sandwiches, ranging from the most basic to the most creatively topped. Looking at the menu, peanut butter fans are given a choice: pick one of Spread PB’s delicious sounding house creations, or build your own childhood favorite with their wide selection of topping.
Long Live The King
While I considered creating my own and having potato chips smashed in the middle, I decided to go with one of their house favorites: The Elvis.
Maple Bacon Peanut Butter, honey, banana slices and more bacon fill in the delicious space between two panini pressed slices of wheat bread. The smooth peanut butter was highlighted by the salty and savory bacon while the banana slices and honey were evenly spaced throughout, adding a contrasting sweet flavor. An incredibly delicious and flavor-balanced sandwich.
All that was missing was a glass of milk.
Spread PB is a perfect example about how you don’t need an overly complicated set of ingredients to create a delicious sandwich. I look forward to my next visit where I will work on crafting my own Danger Sandwich from the create-a-sandwich options.
If you’re in Studio City and looking for an enjoyable sandwich, or just to spend a meal reminiscing about years past over your favorite childhood meal, then definitely stop in at Spread PB.
Until next week…
The Elvis
