Greetings, Readers!
I hope you’ve been enjoying the new and revamped website here at TheDangerSandwich.com, and rest assured I am out on the town still looking for the best sandwiches to bring to you each week.
Take for example this past weekend. Having recovered from a bout of sickness, I was craving a good beer and a savory sandwich in between rainstorms. The cooler temps that had arrived in LA, needed a nice warming counterpart and a recent find called Link N Hops in Atwater Village looked to fill that need.
At first look, Link N Hops is a small shop tucked into a small strip mall in Atwater, but one look at the menu will show that the scope of food here is anything but tiny.
The sausage menu is overwhelming, the options of starters flooring, and the beer list? Enticing. I’ve had a lot of sausages around the city, notable at Wurstkuche, Brats Bros., and Carney’s, all of which have fantastic takes on this form of food, so Link N Hops had a lot to live up to.
It took some time, but I was eventually able to knock a few of the delicious options off the list, eventually settling on the savory Duck and Bacon w/ Jalapeno Sausage. Along with a bit of onion and garlic in the sausage there were deliciously competing flavors of umami and a spice kick.
Duck and Bacon combined can potentially be a bit too much as both ingredients can be greasy and overly savory, but this sausage had balanced it out quite nicely, and the jalapenos were helpful in cutting through their combined flavoring.
To complement the jalapeno flavor, I added spicy mixed pickles and sweet peppers as toppings so that the sandwich went through the entire flavor spectrum of mild and sweet through savory and straight through to fiery pain. All easily complemented with Hopulent IPA, a bright and citrusy beer from Epic Brewing Company.
All of this was wrapped up in a great, sturdy bun which held together excellently whose bready flavor came through all of the competing flavors, a welcome addition.
I spent the afternoon eating, drinking and catching up with an old friend from back home, on break from the wintry hell of Philadelphia in between the wintry hell of LA this past weekend. The outdoor picnic tables were a great way to enjoy the cool weather in a great part of the city.
Oh and did I mention their insanely delicious fries? The three of us split these delicious fries that were topped with sausage slices, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and jalapenos. You know, just in case you didnt’ have enough heat with this sausage option.
Like myself.
All in all, Link N Hops is one of the tops sausage restaurants in the city. Pair it with their amazing craft beer list, and the relaxing atmosphere of the place and you have a must see spot in a fantastic part of LA.
Until next week, Readers…

Great food with great friends! I really liked the laid back atmosphere of this place. Just as easy to walk up and order take out as it was to sit down and enjoy your link! I’m so happy I had the chance to eat hear with the danger man himself during my brief visit to LA.
