What To Do, Oh What To Do?
Greetings, Readers!
Another week, and it’s time to add another sandwich to the “Random Grab Bag” Pile.
And what do I mean by that? Well, you see, I have a list about ten pages long regarding a number of sandwich spots I want to go to.
Sometimes though, I’m not near enough, or not in the mood for the top sandwich those places offer, and so I hit up the internet and find something nearby that sounds like a winner.
I usually go back and forth, taking more time than most people would normally do, in order to decide on what lunch will be for the day.
Enter Doner Burger Grill.
A Flashback From My Berlin Days (All Seven Of Them)
For those not in the know, Doner is a type of Turkish kebab made of meat from a vertical spit, that’s stuffed into a pita or hollowed out bread and filled with vegetables and sauce.
I originally fell in love with this sandwich when I was in Berlin years ago. It was so good that I think I ate more Doner sandwiches than I ate actual German food.
Shame, yes. But then again, this stuff was incredible. So whenever I get the chance, I like to try any new Doner place I find stateside.
So, hungry on a Saturday afternoon, this was a solid place to stop. I ordered the beef kebab which came stuffed into a roll with lettuce, tomatatoes, onions and their special sauce.
A word to the wise though: unless you’re like really hungry don’t order a side of fries just for yourself as it makes for an incredibly heart meal.
The sandwich was pure bliss, and possibly one of my favorite Doner Kebabs.
Living Up To The Best?
The meat was so juicy and tender, and they didn’t spare any when packing this sandwich. Each mouthful brimmed with slices of the delicious meat. The vegetables gave it a bright, crisp flavor that evened out the savory onslaught form the beef doner.
The bread was soft and buttery, pulling off easily with each bite. Surprisingly for something this packed, it actually held together fairly well until the end, keeping your hands mostly clean from this fulfilling lunch.
All in all, this is now going to be listed as a spot for a return visit.
For. Sure.
As we’ve seen here numerous times, sometimes it might not be the sandwich you’re looking for, but it’s the sandwich you were looking for all along.
Until next week, Readers…
